Booking a Wedding Hall in Vadapalani: What to Check First

Booking a wedding hall in Vadapalani: what to check before you pay the advance

Vadapalani is one of Chennai's most convenient wedding locations, close to the Metro, Koyambedu and the Kodambakkam and T. Nagar belt. Here is what to verify before you confirm a hall.

Why Vadapalani works for weddings

Vadapalani sits at the junction of Arcot Road and 100 Feet Road, with a Metro station on the Green Line, the Vadapalani Murugan Temple nearby, and quick access to Koyambedu bus terminus, Kodambakkam, T. Nagar, Ashok Nagar and KK Nagar. Guests from across Chennai, and from the airport and Central station by Metro, can reach it without a long drive.

Seated capacity versus invited guests

Invitations rarely translate one-to-one into seats. A 750-seat air-conditioned hall comfortably handles a wedding of 1,000–1,200 invitees because guests arrive in waves and move between the hall, the dining hall and the forecourt. Ask the venue to walk you through the expected flow for your numbers.

Dining sittings and the two-kitchen question

Ask how many guests can eat per sitting, whether the dining hall is air-conditioned, and, critically, whether the vegetarian and non-vegetarian kitchens are separate. AVM Convention Centre seats 200 per sitting in an AC dining hall served by two purpose-built kitchens.

Rooms for the couple and family

The bride and groom need somewhere to get ready, rest between functions and change. Close family travelling from out of town need rooms too. Check how many suites and rooms the venue has on site and whether they are air-conditioned. AVM has 2 suites and 12 rooms within the venue.

Muhurtham timing and multi-function bookings

Early-morning muhurthams and previous-evening receptions are the norm. Confirm hall access times, set-up windows for the decorator, and whether the venue can host the reception the evening before and the muhurtham the next morning.

Parking, arrivals and the photograph at the gate

Ask about parking inside the compound and where the wedding car can pull up. Look at the entrance at night: an illuminated façade and a covered portico turn the arrival into a photograph your family will keep.

Power, security and the small things

Full power backup (including AC), 24-hour CCTV, a hand-wash area near the dining hall, and a venue office that answers the phone. These are the details that make the day smooth.

Questions to ask before you pay

How many seats in the layout we want? How many per dining sitting? Separate kitchens? How many rooms, and are they included? Parking count? Power backup coverage? Decorator and caterer policy? Hall timings and overnight terms? Cancellation and date-change terms? Get the answers in writing.
